Privacy Policy
Frickit is built around personal context — your tasks, journal entries, moods, and patterns. That means privacy actually matters here. This policy is a plain explanation of what we collect, why, where it goes, and what you can do about it.
Who we are
Frickit is an iOS app operated by the developer (Slim). We are the data controller for the information you provide. Reach us through the contact form.
Information we collect
We collect only what the app needs to work.
- Account details. Email address, name, and the unique identifier from your chosen sign-in method (Apple, Google, or email magic link). If you choose to add a profile photo, we store the image URL.
- Onboarding answers. What you tell us during sign-up: your wake time, planning day, journal frequency, and the struggle(s) you want Frick to keep in mind.
- App content you create. Tasks (title, category, priority, completion timestamps), goals (weekly, monthly, life), journal entries (free-text content and your selected mood), and any context you add via the brain-dump feature.
- Derived insights. Behavioral patterns Frick observes (e.g., your most productive day) and short “memories” the AI extracts from your entries to personalize future replies.
- Notification token. A device push token from Apple so Frick can send you a morning briefing. We do not use this for any other purpose.
- Usage telemetry. Counts of AI requests for rate-limiting and basic reliability monitoring (request type, success/error, token counts). No content of your requests is retained in these logs.
- Product analytics. We use PostHog to understand which features people use so we can improve the app. This includes event names (e.g.
task_created,journal_tab_opened), the time they happened, your app version, iOS version, device model, language, and a pseudonymous user identifier matching your Frickit account. We also store your onboarding answers (wake time, planning day, struggle, journal frequency) as analytics properties so we can group usage by user type. We do not capture the content of your tasks, journal entries, goals, or AI responses in analytics — only metadata about when features are used. - Voice input (only when you tap the microphone). When you use voice input on a task, brain-dump, or journal entry, your audio is processed by Apple’s Speech Recognition framework. The resulting text is saved as part of the task or journal entry you created. Frickit never stores the raw audio. You can disable microphone access at any time in iOS Settings → Frickit.
- In-app feedback you send us. When you tap “Send feedback” in Settings, your message (plus your app version, build number, iOS version, and your account email so we can reply) is sent to us through Web3Forms, the same provider that handles the contact form on this website. Feedback messages are only used to read, respond, and improve the app.
We do not collect your location, contacts, calendar, photos beyond what you explicitly upload, advertising IDs, or browsing activity outside Frickit.
How we use your information
- To operate the app, sync your data across launches, and personalize Frick’s responses.
- To deliver morning notifications you’ve opted in to.
- To detect and prevent abuse of the AI features (rate limiting, basic safety filters).
- To respond to you when you contact us.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your journal entries, tasks, or other personal content to train AI models — ours or anyone else’s.
AI processing — what gets sent to Anthropic
Frick is powered by Anthropic’s Claude model. AI coaching is optional — you choose whether to enable it during onboarding, and you can turn it off anytime in Settings. When AI coaching is on, we send the following to Anthropic’s Claude API to generate each response:
- Your tasks and goals (titles, categories, priorities, completion status)
- Your journal entries (mood + content)
- What you told us about your struggle during onboarding
- Recent memories Frick has kept about you (rolling window of ~10 items)
- Your nickname (or blank if you skipped it)
Anthropic processes this content under their enterprise API terms, does not retain it for model training, and does not sell it. You can read about Anthropic’s privacy practices at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
If you turn AI coaching off, no data is sent to Anthropic. Tasks, goals, and journal writing continue to work normally — you just won’t see Frick’s coaching messages.
Where your data lives
All app data is stored in our Supabase database (US region). Sign-in is handled via Apple, Google, or email magic link — we never see your password (we don’t use passwords). Push notifications go directly through Apple’s servers using a token we hold for your device.
Service providers we use
- Supabase — database, authentication, edge functions, file storage.
- Anthropic — AI model for Frick’s responses.
- PostHog — product analytics, hosted in the US. Receives event names, event timestamps, your pseudonymous user identifier, and the analytics properties described above. Does not receive the content of tasks, journal entries, goals, or AI responses.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, push notification delivery, on-device Speech Recognition for voice input.
- Google — Sign in with Google (only if you choose this option).
- Vercel — hosting this website.
- Web3Forms / Cloudflare — for the contact form on this website and the in-app “Send feedback” form in Settings.
Each of these processes data on our instructions per their standard data-processing agreements. None of them have rights to use your data for their own purposes beyond providing the contracted service.
How long we keep your information
We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account from inside the app (Profile → Delete account), all your personal data — tasks, goals, journal entries, derived patterns, AI memories — is permanently removed within 30 days. Anonymized aggregate telemetry (e.g., daily count of AI requests) may be retained longer in compressed form for reliability monitoring.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct anything inaccurate.
- Delete your account and your data.
- Export your data in a portable format on request.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
If you live in the EU/UK, you have rights under GDPR. If you live in California, you have rights under CCPA/CPRA. To exercise any of these, message us through the contact form.
Children
Frickit is intended for users 13 years and older (16+ in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under those ages. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we’ll remove it.
Security
All data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS / TLS). Data at rest is encrypted at the database layer by Supabase. Access to the production database is restricted to the developer.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a material way, we’ll update the “last updated” date and, where reasonable, notify you in the app.
